What do injections involve?
At The VeinCare Centre many people can be treated with a technique called Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy. In this technique, a solution called a “sclerosant” is made up as a foam and under the guidance of an ultrasound probe, the sclerosant is injected into the veins that are the path of reflux as well as the varicose veins themselves. The injections remove the lining of the veins and start a healing process that seals the veins.

In appropriate cases, the results of this treatment are similar to traditional surgery. Many people are attracted to this treatment option as there are no surgical incisions, no time off work (“down time”) and no general anaesthetic. The cost of this treatment option is typically half that of standard surgery.

What does surgery involve?
At The VeinCare Centre, surgery is performed by highly qualified and experienced specialist surgeons. It is usually undertaken as a day-case, and often under local anaesthetic. The patient can usually walk again within a few hours. A full return to driving usually takes a week or so and most need only a couple of weeks off work.
