From 1st January 2012, Bupa plans to de-list 37 BMI hospitals following a dispute over hospital charges. The de-list includes the Harbour Hospital in Poole and the Bath Clinic, but as far as I can tell, it does not include the Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester.
So what does this mean for you if you have Bupa private medical insurance and you want to have treatment by me and my team? Well, I am a specialist recognised by Bupa and your GP can refer you to me for your varicose vein treatment, or you can express your preference to be seen and treated by me when you contact Bupa to activate your insurance. I am able to treat your vein conditon either at the Melbury Clinic or at the Winterbourne Hospital, but unfortunately, until the dispute is resolved, I am not able to see or treat you at the Harbour Hospital in Poole.
If this situation changes, I will up date you on this blog. In the meantime, if you have Bupa private medical insurance check the on-going situation with regard to BMI hospitals directly with BUPA.
