Dr Gajraj presents Annette with a charitable donation

This autumn, the VeinCare Centre held a series of open events for the public and local GPs to raise awareness about varicose veins, thread veins and the complications of veins as well as the work we do for people troubled by these common vein problems. These educational events around Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire were a great success and they were very well attended. In addition, they raised charitable funds for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and I was delighted to present Annette Plaistow-Trapaud (Fund Raising Coordinator for DSSA) with a cheque for £400.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a registered charity and receives no direct funding from the government or the national lottery and it relies entirely on charitable donations. It needs £1.4m every year to do provide a rapid response to the people of this area who are in distress and require transportation to hospital.

We plan to have another series of open events in the Spring of 2012, so please contact us to register your interest. Details will be posted on this blog a little nearer the time.
