I was delighted to be invited to the prestigious meeting of over 300 delegates today at the British Associaton of Cosmetic Nurses in London. A wide range of cosmetic issues were covered, including the treatment of lines, wrinkles and the ageing skin. My own presentation covered the management of unsightly thread veins and spider veins.

Thread veins and spider veins are often caused by unsuspected superficial vein reflux. They are not just a cosmetic issue and their treatment depends on identifying and treating underlying reflux by a comprehensive duplex ultrasound scan.
In my presentation today to the BACN, I explained the causes of thread veins and spider veins, demonstrated how reflux can be identified by ultrasound and I showed a video of the treatment of thread veins by microsclerotherapy.
There was huge interest in my presentation and a lively discussion with lots of questions afterwards. I am extremely grateful to the organising committee of the BACN for inviting me to their national meeting.
The BACN is a not-for-profit organisation run by the members, for the members. As a body, it is able to gain credibility to represent the views and aspirations of Aesthetic Nurses throughout the UK. The BACN is able to respond to the needs of members and provide a wide range of benefits.
