Natalie Pike undertakes all the treatments for facial thread veins at the VeinCare Centre, because, by specialising and by having one person develop all the expertise in this treatment, we find we get better results. Before any treatment is started, Natalie takes a full medical history and in collaboration with her patient, she assesses which areas which are of particular concern. The treatment is relatively straightforward and is called Short Wave Diathermy. First, she applies a local anaesthetic cream and after 30 minutes, she wipes it off and she cleans the skin with antiseptic.
With the aid of magnification and good illumination, she uses a sterile single-use medical needle to apply a very precise medical electrical current to the blood vessel. The electrical current cauterises and closes the blood vessel and over the course of a few weeks it disperses. Once the treatment is complete Natalie applies a soothing gel to the area and then she applies a high factor UV-protection cream. In general, the results are excellent.
