Tumescent local anaesthetic administration is an essential intervention to treat varicose veins by endo-venous laser. The anesthetic is applied under ultrasound guidance and varicose veins and refluxing saphenous veins can be removed without admission to hospital, without general anaesthetic and on a walk in, walk out basis.

In the video that follows, I show you how I do this step by step. We start with the laser fibre in the correct position and in this live demonstration, I administer tumescent local anaesthetic along the length of the laser fibre inside the vein.
Modern varicose vein removal avoids general anaesthetic and does not require admission to hospital or an overnight stay. The recovery is rapid, the cosmetic results are excellent and the risk of recurrence is minimal.
Surgical stripping is no longer required and indeed, in my practice, I haven’t treated anyone by stripping for over 10 years.

The VeinCare Centre also offers a screening assessment with our vascular technologist. For £25 you can have a scan with Wendy Parsons. She is not a doctor and so she could not give you medical advice but she can check your deep veins and your varicose veins and give you an idea of how bad they are and whether laser might be suitable for you. If you would like to have an appointment with Wendy please call 01935 873 951
