Two new consultant colleagues have joined the VeinCare Centre. Nick Lagattolla and Simon Payne are highly experienced vascular surgeons who are able to provide the latest non-invasive treatments for varicose veins, thread veins and the complications of superficial venous reflux.
Mr Nicholas Lagattolla trained in Nottingham and then continued his higher surgical training in London at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. He has been a Consultant in general, vascular and endocrine surgery for nearly 14 years at the Dorset County Hospital. During Nick’s tenure as a consultant, he has become well recognised locally as a hard-working and highly skilled vascular surgeon.
Nick has been at the forefront of many surgical developments and whilst at Dorset County Hospital he initiated a carotid endarterectomy service in conjunction with the Stroke Physicians. Prior to his appointment, this operation had not been performed locally. He has produced many papers, case reports, presentations and posters over the 14 years he has been in Dorset and he maintains an academic interest.
For the last 2 years he has been engaged exclusively in private practice and we are delighted that he has joined our team. Nick offers endo-thermal ablation based on a comprehensive duplex ultrasound scan. Nick started at our clinic in Holt Mill 2 months ago and already his services are highly sought after. He has plans to introduce the revolutionary Clarivein procedure (more on this in future posts!).
Simon Payne qualified from Leicester University Medical School in 1986 and he trained in Vascular and General Surgery in Oxford, Sydney, Leicester and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. His research into colour duplex scanning in venous disease and varicose veins led to his MD thesis. He has published and presented over thirty research papers on Vascular Surgery – the majority being on venous disease. Simon was appointed Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon to Portsmouth Hospitals in 1998 at the age of 34.
Simon has been a valued member of the VeinCare Centre Team for over 6 months now and he has established a highly successful presence in the clinic in Dorset.
Wit the addition of these 2 consultants, we can now offer appointments for consultations and after care with much more flexibility.
