Olympic Torch in Somerset

I am delighted to have witnessed the Olympic Torch being carried through the West Country early this morning. My good friend and colleague Malcolm Maxted carried the Torch through Yeovil. Malcolm has been very active in a number of charities, including the Hospice and the hospital in Yeovil. He is a very keen runner and has completed several marathons. It was a wonderful privilege to see the Torch and to support a valued colleague.

Malcolm Maxted has been the clinical director of the Orthopaedic Department of Yeovil Hospital for many years and he has been at the fore-front of the development of a first class orthopaedic service. Malcolm recently retired, leaving behind a large well run department for which in my opinion he should take much credit.

Malcolm is currently the chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Melbury Clinic which oversees standards practice privileges.

I was very pleased to able to take this video. Congratulations Malcolm!
